Detailed Solution

The consumer movement came into an organised form in the 1960s.
It was developed as a result of vendors engaging in several unfair acts that made customers angry. There was no legislative framework in place to safeguard consumers from unfair business practices. In India, it took many years to raise people's awareness of these unethical practices. Before, there was no organised consumer movement at the national level; it existed only at the local level. In the 1960s, widespread food shortages, stockpiling, illegal marketing, adulteration of food, and edible oil production gave rise to the organised form of the consumer movement.
