Detailed Solution

The Corn Laws were in effect from 1815 to 1864.
The laws that were in effect in Britain between 1815 and 1846 were known as the Corn Laws. These laws were passed to give the government the power to limit corn imports. Food grains were in high demand because of the growing population. Meeting the demand required the large importation of food grains. Therefore, it became necessary to impose import restrictions. So, rules governing corn were passed. The economy saw numerous adjustments as a result of the repeal of the corn laws.
