Gallium is known as Eka- aluminium. In Mendeleev’s periodic table, it occupies the 3rd group and thus has a valency of 3. Gallium requires to lose three electrons to attain a stable configuration. Thus, three chlorine atoms are required to form a stable compound with gallium.
