Given that the cost of 9 chairs and 3 tables is Rs. 306, while the cost of 6 chairs and 3 tables is Rs. 246.
Now, let each chair costs Rs. x and each table costs Rs. y.
So we get the equations,

9 x + 3 y = 306

---- (1)

6 x + 3 y = 246

-----(2)
Subtracting equation (2) from equation (1) we get,

(9 x + 3 y)

6 x + 3 y) = 306 - 246

3 x = 60

\Rightarrow x = 20

Substituting

x = 20

in equation (1) we get,

9 (20) + 3 y = 306

\Rightarrow

180 + 3 y = 306

\Rightarrow

3 y = 126

\Rightarrow

y = 42

Hence, the cost of 6 chairs and 1 table is,

6 x + y

6 (20) + 42

120 + 42

= 162
