Detailed Solution

The cotton mill in India was first established in Bombay.
In 1854, the first cotton spinning mill was established in Bombay. It has become an important port for exporting raw cotton from India to the UK and China. This cotton crop became in great demand, and farmers began to invest in it. Cotton disrupted the market. A large number of workers began to work in factories. In Bombay, about 84 factories were established by Parsi and Gujarati entrepreneurs in 1900. Construction and development of factories in the cities began, and the first factory in Ahmedabad was started in 1861. The development of cotton factories required labour. Poor farmers, craftsmen, and agricultural labourers began to work in factories. India's textile industry faces problems such as difficulty in competing with cheap textiles imported from the UK.
