Detailed Solution

In Sri Lanka, majoritarianism led to civil war.
The majority rule served as the impetus for Sri Lanka's civil war. Majoritarianism refers to the notion that one group should rule the country and have power over all others. Sri Lanka has a majority rule system. The term majoritarianism characterises both the rule of a majority and the power that majority groups- such as the Sinhalas in Sri Lanka- had the power to exercise. The Tamil community felt ignored because the Sri Lankan government disregarded and disparaged them. This led to conflicts between the two groups, eventually leading to a bloody civil war that lasted several years.
