Detailed Solution

The country has been divided into electoral constituencies for elections.
We have different elections in India, such as the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections. To ensure that the elections are democratic, they are held at regular intervals (every five years). Elections can also be held for a single constituency to fill up the vacancy due to the death or removal of such members (known as by-election). Hence, we can say that in India, we follow an area-based representation. The entire country has been split into numerous areas for elections known as electoral constituencies. Each voter gives a vote for the representatives from their region.
