The States Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission was established as an independent, statutory, and constitutional authority to defend consumer rights in India's states and union territories under Section 24-B of the Consumer Protection Act of 1986. It is a mechanism of alternative dispute settlement used in the course of commerce between contending parties. In agreement with the Chief Justice of the state high court, the state government appoints the head of the States Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission. The States Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission was established to advance and safeguard consumers' rights at three different levels:
1)      District Commission: up to 20 lakh claims.
2)      State Commission: claims above 20 lakhs but under one crore.
3)      The National Commission: assertions exceed one crore.
