It is evident in the cover of a German almanac designed by the journalist Andreas Rebmann in 1798. Rebmann was a member of the Jacobin club formed by a group of students and educated middle class as an aftermath of the French. The image of the Bastille being stormed was placed next to the picture of a similar fortress. It was meant to represent the bastion of despotic rule in the German province of Kassel.
