Detailed Solution

The colonial government in India passed the Criminal Tribes Act in the year 1871. Through the enactment of this act, many communities of pastoralists, traders, and craftsmen were considered to be criminal tribes. The tribes were prohibited from moving out without the permission of the colonial government. As per the act, a list was prepared in which criminal castes were written down, and according to the list, restrictions were placed upon specified castes. People belonging to criminal castes were not allowed to enter the specific region, and they were not allowed to talk to certain people. The Criminal Tribes Act was one such act passed by the British government keeping in mind the religions and caste identities in India.
