The cyclical movements of the mountain pastoralists are defined by climatic conditions, cold, and snow. The nomadic herders of the mountains move down to the Bhabar regions found in the lower parts of the Himalayas and the Shivaliks between the Garhwal and Kumaon regions in India when the cold comes. It contains the nomadic tribe Gujjar Bakarwal of Jammu and Kashmir. The herders and their cattle move from one place to another in search of pasture grounds for the cattle. During the summers, they migrate back to the mountains.
