Detailed Solution

The defeat of Germany in World War I led to the establishment of the Weimar Republic.
Parliamentary parties had the chance to reshape German politics due to Imperial Germany's loss and the emperor's abdication. Weimar hosted a National Assembly that drafted a democratic federal constitution. Based on equal and universal votes cast by all adults, including women, deputies were now elected to the German Reichstag. However, this republic was not warmly received by its citizens, partly due to the conditions it was compelled to accept in the wake of Germany's defeat at the end of the First World War. The Allies and Germany signed a severe and demeaning peace agreement at Versailles.
