Detailed Solution

The demand for goods increased due to the acquisition of colonies and expansion of world trade.
Eighteenth-century England marked a new phenomenon of the acquisition of colonies across the seas. The establishment of settlements in different areas also gave impetus to international trade. The trading activity in England was confined to the countryside and was operated through guilds. But as the business expanded, there was a rise of new merchants opposed by the guilds who monopolised the production process. So the merchants turned to the countryside and associated with the peasants and artisans for production. However, the expansion of trade impeded the rise of merchants who played a significant role in the international market.
