Detailed Solution

Let V be the volume of the metal at normal pressure.

From B =-pV/V , the decrease in the volume when the metal is subjected to an excess pressure p is given by

          V=pVB

    New volume of metal is V' = V-pVB = V1-pB

Now mass of the metal is m = ρV. Therefore, its new density is

           ρ'=mV'=ρVV1-pB=ρ1-pB

or      ρ'ρ=11-p/B
