Their animals assist in fertilising the crops here, so the Konkani villagers welcome them. They return to the semi-arid territory of Maharashtra as soon as the monsoon arrives. Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh are home to the Gollas, herd cattle, and the Kurumas and Kurubas, raising sheep and goats. They reside among the forests and migrate to coastal areas during dry years. Banjaras from Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra migrate to various locations in quest of good pastures. Rajasthan's Raikas practised both agriculture and pastoralism.
