Detailed Solution

The diameter of Jupiter is 12756000 m. If a new planet is discovered whose diameter is 5 86   the diameter of Jupiter, then the diameter of this new planet in km will be 741.6279 km.
It is given that the diameter of Jupiter is 12756000 m and the diameter of a new planet is 5 86   the diameter of Jupiter.
Let the diameter of the new planet be x.   The diameter of Jupiter = 12756000 m.
We know that 1000 m = 1 km.
1 m= 1 1000  km.   12756000 m= 12756000 1000  km. 12756000 m=12756 km.
Therefore the diameter of Jupiter = 12756 km.
Since it is given that the diameter of a new planet is 5 86   the diameter of Jupiter, therefore we have,
    x= 5 86 ×12756 x= 63680 86 x=741.6279 km.   Therefore, the diameter of the new planet will be 741.6279 km.
