Given: The difference of two natural numbers is 3 and the difference of reciprocals is

Assume that the natural numbers are ‘a’ and ‘b’.
According to the question,

⇒ a − b = 3 ⇒ a = b + 3 And, 1 b − 1 a = 328 ⇒ 1 b − 1 (b + 3) = 328

⇒ b + 3 − b b (b + 3) = 328 ⇒ 3 b (b + 3) = 84 ⇒ 3 b 2 + 9 b = 84 ⇒ b 2 + 3 b − 28 = 0

⇒ b 2 + 7 b − 4 b − 28 = 0 ⇒ b (b + 7) − 4 (b + 7) = 0 ⇒ (b − 4) (b + 7) = 0

Either b − 4 = 0 or b + 7 = 0

⇒ b = 4 ⇒ b = − 7

Neglect b = −7 case since −7 is not a natural number.

b = 4 ⇒ a = b + 3 ⇒ a = 4 + 3 ⇒ a = 7

Hence, 4 and 7 are the two natural numbers whose difference is 3 and the difference of their reciprocals is
