Let ABCD be the rectangular park, in which XY and UV are two gates.

∴Perimeter of the park ABCD = 2 (length + breadth)

= 2 (60 m + 40 m)

= 2 × 100 m

= 200 m

⇒ Length of the portion of the park that is to be fenced = [200 − (3 + 3)] m

= (200 − 6) m

= 194 m
