According to V.B.T the covalent bond is formed by the overlapping of atomic orbitals of the valency shell with unpaired electrons. Atomic orbitals are directional and hence the formed covalent bond is directional [means the covalent bond oriented in a specified direction] ,and the covalent bond is formed in the direction of overlapping orbitals.
