The Constituent Assembly, composed of elected delegates from around the country, was responsible for writing the Indian Constitution. The Constituent Assembly of India had designated on 9th December 1946 to write the constitution for independent India, which had constituted on 15th August 1947. Sachchidananda Sinha served as the interim president of the Constituent Assembly, but Dr Rajendra Prasad was elected to serve as the assembly's permanent chairman. After the Republic of India had established on 26th January 1950, Dr Rajendra Prasad had elected as India's first president. The assembly was dissolved on 26th January 1950 as the constitution was ready.
