Detailed Solution

The economic instability and colonial rule led Mahatma Gandhi to launch the Civil Disobedience Movement in 1930. Mahatma Gandhi organised the Salt Satyagraha, a significant act of civil disobedience in opposition to the salt tariff imposed by the British administration in India. On March 12, 1930, Gandhi led a sizable group of people from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi, a coastal Gujarat village, to violate the salt ban by producing salt from saltwater. The previous movements had all been confined to urban areas, making this one the first nationwide movement.
