The Election Commission has introduced the Election Photo Identity Card or EPIC to identify the voters. Following independence, the Constitution's authors made it abundantly apparent that the Indian political system must be founded on the idea of a universal adult franchise. Therefore, all Indian citizens, regardless of caste, creed, sex, or other characteristics, have the right to vote, and every vote has the same value. To ensure this, a voter's list is prepared with the names of all the citizens who are eligible to vote. Everyone on this list is then issued an EPIC. This further eliminates the menace of fraudulent votes.
