The Election Commission is answerable to the Constitution. The ECI (Election Commission of India) is a constitutional body that works independently. It is not answerable to the Lok Sabha, the Rajya Sabha or the office of the President. It is, however, answerable or responsible to the Constitution of India, which mentions it in Article 324. It is provided in the Constitution that all powers related to the conduction and supervision of elections to the Parliament (Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha), the State Legislatures and the office of the President and the Vice-President are vested in the Election Commission of India.
