The Indian National Congress succeeded eight of the 11 states where elections were held, including Madras, Central Provinces, Bihar, Orissa, United Provinces, Bombay Presidency, Assam, NWFP, Bengal, Punjab, and Sindh. As a result, the INC appeared in authority in eight regions.
