The electric device which works on the phenomenon of force on a current carrying conductor in a magnetic field is motor.
The current carrying conductor experiences a force when placed perpendicular to the direction of the magnetic field. The direction of force is given by Flemings’s left-hand rule.
Current flows through a battery in a loop placed in a magnetic field.
The magnetic field exerts force on the loop, causing it to rotate. As a result, electrical energy is converted to mechanical energy. To rotate the loop continuously in one direction, the direction of force on the wires must change every half revolution. This is performed by the use of split rings, which allow the current to change direction. When the current direction is reversed, the direction of forces acting on the coil is also reversed. This change in force direction pushes the coil and causes it to move another half turn.
