The electrical signals are sent from the retina to the brain via the optic nerve[121][122].
A layer of tissue at the back of the eye called the retina contains unique cells called photoreceptors, which convert light into electrical signals when it strikes the retina. After that, light passes through the lens (a clear inner part of the eye). To properly focus light on the retina, the lens and cornea work together. These electrical transmissions from the retina to the brain travel along the optic nerve. Afterwards, the brain converts the signals into the pictures you see.
