Hydrogen contains 1proton and electron.  

Its electronic configuration is $1{\mathrm{s}}^1$ and small in size as compared to other elements.

1) In some of it’s properties, hydrogen resembles group 1elements, i.e  alkali  metals and can be placed with them

2) In some of  it’s properties, hydrogen resembles group 17 elements, i.e. halogens and can be placed with them

3) In some other properties, hydrogen differs from both group 1 (alkali metals) and group 17 elements.
