One adrenal gland is attached to superior part of each kidney (hence the name suprarenal gland). The pineal is located on the dorsal side of the forebrain. The thymus gland is located between lungs behind sternum on the ventral side of aorta. The parathyroid glands are embedded in the posterior surfaces of the thyroid lobes.
