Detailed Solution

The English Education Act of 1835 was introduced after Macaulay's minute. Because various British officials criticised the Eastern approach to education, they claimed that the Eastern educational approach was unscientific and full of mistakes. This was the foundation of numerous arguments. The debate grew in the 1830s. Thomas Babington Macaulay was a critical voice who had a significant impact. He claimed that India must become more civilised. He believed that a particular branch of eastern knowledge was incompatible with western or English knowledge. He recommended that the British government in India stop squandering tax dollars to promote Oriental studies because they serve no useful purpose. Macaulay emphasised the importance of educating Indians in English. He believed that it would increase their awareness of global developments.
