Presently the rapid rate of species extinction is mainly due to human activities, which ultimately cause biodiversity loss of some species. There are mainly four causes for biodiversity loss, which are collectively called "The Evil Quartet". These are habitat loss and fragmentation, over-exploitation, alien-species invasion and co-extinction.
