Detailed Solution

Resistivity, also known as specific resistance, is a fundamental property of a material that measures how strongly it resists electric current. It is represented by (rho). The SI unit of resistivity is Ωm. The resistivity of a substance is numerically the same as the resistance of rod of that substance which is 1 metre long and 1 square metre in the cross-section of a conductor.
The formula for resistivity is,
               Resistivity (ρ)=×Al
Where,
R= resistance of the conductor
A= area of cross-section of the conductor
l = length of the conductor
The resistivity of a substance is independent of its thickness or length. Instead, it depends on temperature and the nature of the substance.
