Detailed Solution

The eye can control the amount of light falling on the retina. The part of the eye that is responsible for this is the iris.
Iris is the ring of pigmented tissue surrounding the pupil that varies in colour from person to person. The pupil is the opening in the centre of the iris where light enters the eye. The pupil transfers the amount of light to the eye, but the iris controls pupil size. When the light is bright, the pupil contracts to limit the amount of light entering the eyes, and When the light is dim, the pupils dilate to increase the amount of light entering the eyes.
