The fight for Purna Swaraj was fought under the presidency of Jawaharlal Nehru.
The Indian National Congress, led by Jawaharlal Nehru, adopted the Purna Swaraj proclamation (or total self-rule independent of the British Empire) on December 19, 1929, during its session in Lahore. It started to persuade every Indian person to fight against the British for full swaraj. A significant component of India's history leading up to independence is the Poorna Swaraj movement. Purna Swaraj Diwas was declared to be on January 26, 1930. Purna Swaraj referred to complete freedom from the British Raj. Volunteers for the Congress, Nehru, nationalists, and the general public publicly flew the Indian flag around the country.
