The first attempt toward the unification of Germany was made in 1848.
1)      In 1848, Wilhelm IV of Prussia established a constitutional monarchy and called a parliament in Frankfurt, marking the beginning of attempts to unite Germany. The Prussian king disapproved of this action and joined the other king in opposing the elected assembly.
2)      Germans of the middle class had strong nationalist sentiments. In 1848, they attempted to merge the many German confederation territories into one nation-state.
3)      The campaign for national unification was started and led by Prussia. Prussia's Chief Minister, Otto Von Bismarck, advanced the procedure with the aid of the Prussian army and bureaucracy.
4)      Over seven years, he waged three wars against Austria, Denmark, and France, which Prussia ultimately won. With this win, Germany was finally united.
5)      At Versailles, Prussian King William I was proclaimed the new German emperor. Thus, the new German empire was led by Kaiser. The following methods were used to carry out the unification of Germany.
6)      Wilhelm of Prussia was established on January 18th, 1871.
