Detailed Solution

The first cotton mill was created by Richard Arkwright.
Richard Arkwright, and three other men, founded the first cotton factory in 1771. Arkwright's most significant accomplishment was combining power, semi-skilled labor, and raw materials to create mass production. The factory was located in Cromford, Derbyshire, on the banks of the River Derwent. The machine created by Arkwright came to be known as the "water frame." It was the world's first cotton-spinning wheel powered by water. Eventually, Arkwright had to bring in workers from the surrounding area for the scale of operations that he had in mind.
