Detailed Solution

The first cotton mill was set up in Bombay in 1854.
Industries in India were established in different regions by different people. The first cotton mill in Bombay was created in 1854 and was put into use two years later. This historic event sparked additional industrial development throughout the nation. By 1862, four mills with 94,000 spindles and 2,150 looms were in use. Bengal saw the emergence of jute mills during this period; the first opened in 1855, and the second did so seven years later, in 1862. Northern India's Elgin Mill in Kanpur opened its doors in the 1860s, while Ahmedabad's first cotton mill followed a year later. In 1874, the first spinning and weaving mill in Madras opened for business.
