Detailed Solution

The first Indian Governor General of free India was Lord Mountbatten.
The dominions of Pakistan and India, respectively, were created at midnight on August 14 and 15, 1947, and they began the process of becoming sovereign nations. As India's first independent Governor-General, Lord Mountbatten was chosen. To advance India's growth, Lord Mountbatten made several plans and provisions. It was intended for British India to be divided into the nations of India and Pakistan. It was agreed that the regions with a majority of Muslims would not be subject to the constitution drafted by the Constituent Assembly (as these would become Pakistan). Following the plan, the legislative bodies of Bengal and Punjab met and voted in favour of the division. According to the idea, these two provinces would be divided based on religious considerations.
