Detailed Solution

The first major revolt before 1857 was led by sannyasis and fakirs in Bengal.
The operations of sannyasis and fakirs (Hindu and Muslim ascetics, respectively) in Bengal against the rule of the East India Company in the late 18th century are known as the Sannyasi Rebellion. The Sannyasi Revolt occurred in and around the Jalpaiguri forests of Murshidabad and Baikunthpur. Historians dispute the rebellion's exact causes and also differ on the rebellion's importance to Indian history. It was thought that Nana Saheb was in charge of the Sannyasis and Fakirs' 1857 plot against the British. The major protagonist of the "Sannyasi Rebellion'' against British control and exploitation in Bengal during the eighteenth century was Pandit Bhavanicharan Pathak.
