Detailed Solution

The first printing press in India was brought by Francis Xavier. It was François Xavier who initiated printing in India in goa. He was a Christian missionary and is known for teaching the Tharangambadi Bible, Tamil Nadu circa the 1540s. During this time, the Viceroy of Goa in the name of King Joao III of Portugal founded the school. study for the Indians. This is how Francis Xavier also asked Portugal to send printers to India, Japan, and Ethiopia. In the meantime, the Emperor of Ethiopia asked Portugal to send a printing press along with  Jesuit missionaries who would arrive by boat. So Portugal sent a printing house with  Jesuit missionaries on a Spanish ship in 1556.
