The first revolution that took place in July 1830 was in France. After the first French Revolution in 1789 came the French Revolution of 1830, commonly referred to as the July Revolution or the Second French Revolution. King Charles X, the French Bourbon ruler, was deposed, and his cousin Louis Philippe rose to power. Under the restored House of Bourbon, it signalled the change to a new constitutional monarchy. It involved the transfer of authority from the House of Bourbon to its cadet branch, the House of Orléans. Various other national movements in Europe followed the July Revolution in France.
