Detailed Solution

The first symbol of the new era was cotton. By the 1730s, England had its first factories. Cotton served as the first symbol of a new era. The late nineteenth century saw a surge in its manufacture. To support the cotton industry, Britain imported 2.5 million pounds of raw cotton in 1760. This import increased to 22 million pounds by 1787. This rise was attributed to several modifications made to the production process. They increased productivity per worker, allowing each to produce more. They made it feasible to produce stronger threads and yarn.
