Detailed Solution

The first weekly newspaper in India was brought out by Bal Gangadhar Tilak. He is regarded as one of India's most important modern architects and maybe its most ardent supporter of Swaraj, or Indian autonomy. Bal Gangadhar Tilak launched two periodicals to further his nationalist objectives. "Kesari" in Marathi and "Mahratta" in English. Both newspapers place a lot of focus on empowering Indians with knowledge of their illustrious past and inspiring the populace to be independent. In other terms, the newspaper promoted national freedom. Moreover, to spread awareness of current events, he launched periodicals written in both Marathi and English.
