The first world war began on 28 July 1914. This war was started between the Central power group and the Allies. In central power groups, four countries were taken part: Germany, Austria-Hungary, Turkey and Bulgaria. In the second group, nine countries participated (Britain, France, Serbia, Belgium, Japan, Russia, Italy, USA and Romania). The immediate cause of the war was the murder of Archduke Ferdinand. He was the heir to the Austrian throne. It became a strong rivalry between Austria and Serbia. This war continued for four years. It ended on 11 November 1918. The Allies won.
