Detailed Solution

Both A and R are true but R is not the correct explanation of A.
Assertion: The current in a circuit is affected by resistance and also the circuit's potential difference. Resistances can be linked in two ways: serially and parallelly. When two or even more resistances are connected end-to-end in a row, they are said to be in series.
Reason: In case of parallel resistance, the total resistance is found by first taking reciprocal of the individual resistances and then adding them. And to get the equivalent resistance, we again have to take reciprocal measures. By adding the fractions, we will get a lesser value and hence, the total resistance decreases when individual resistances are connected in parallel.
