The food pipe is a part of the alimentary canal or digestive tract. 

When we take in food through our mouth, it passes to the buccal cavity and then to the food pipe which is called the oesophagus. 

From the oesophagus, the food passes to the stomach, and through the small intestine, and large intestine it finally ends in the rectum to be expelled through the anus.
