Vomiting can occur when the stomach is unable to digest or tolerate something that has been eaten.

It is important to note, however, that the act of vomiting does not involve the oesophagus. Instead, it involves the contraction of abdominal and diaphragmatic muscles, which pushes the contents of the stomach up and out through the mouth.

The oesophagus is responsible for transporting food from the mouth to the stomach. It moves food down the digestive tract through a series of muscle contractions known as peristalsis.

When the stomach is unable to accept or digest the food consumed, the contents of the stomach may be forcibly expelled through vomiting, completely bypassing the oesophagus.
