Detailed Solution

The Forest Act and the Criminal Tribes Acts were passed in the 19th century by the colonial government in India. Different Forest Acts were passed in various Indian provinces by the nineteenth century. The woodlands were split into reserved and protected forests under the Forest Acts. Similarly, Nomadic tribes aroused the suspicion of British officials. So they were considered criminals, whereas settlers were considered peaceful and law-abiding. The Criminal Tribes Act was enacted in 1871, and many pastoralists were labeled as criminal tribes by this Act.
