Detailed Solution

The Forest Acts were enacted to protect and preserve forests for Timber.
The Forest Act was implemented in 1865 and updated in 1878 and 1927. The forests were classified into three groups: Reserved, Protected, and Village forests. Pastoralists' lives were forever transformed by these Acts. They could no longer enter the forests that had previously offered good food for their livestock. Permits were provided that tracked their arrival and exit from forests. They could only spend limited time in the forest because the permit controlled the number of days and hours they could spend there. Their lives were dictated by the permit.
