The founder of Khudai Khidmatgars was Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan. It was a potent nonviolent movement among the Pathans. From the North West Frontier Province, he was a prominent Pashtun. He also went by the name Badshah Khan. Badshah Khan fiercely opposed India's partition. He criticised his fellow Congressmen for supporting the 1947 partition. He marched through Bihar in March 1947 as part of a peace march with his colleagues.
