Detailed Solution

The four lion pillar of Ashoka is located in Sarnath. One of the greatest kings in history was Ashoka. As part of his Dhamma policy, he installed the Sarnath pillar, which gave various instructions to the people. Four lions are depicted in the pillar, facing each other and standing on an abacus with a frieze carrying high relief sculptures of an elephant, a galloping horse, a bull, and a lion over a bell-shaped lotus. The lions represent bravery. The Indian government now takes the same lion pillar as the official emblem.
